A Partner's Perspective

"The strategic planning, staffing, budgeting, marketing, and fundraising necessary to provide quality hospice care doesn’t allow a great deal of time and resources to direct toward long-range sustainability.

As a result, Hospice of Larimer County turned to the Community Foundation to establish an endowment fund. The Community Foundation later issued a challenge grant: the Foundation will contribute $1 to our endowment fund for every $2 we raise, up to $70,000. If we raise $140,000 by December 31, 2008, the Community Foundation will add $70,000 to our fund.

The assistance and support of the Community Foundation has made what has seemed like an impossible task more feasible."

-- Evan Hyatt, CEO, Hospice of Larimer County

The Community Foundation of Northern Colorado strives to be the regional leader in building a more engaged, philanthropic and visionary community, by strategically connecting donors with the causes they care about most.

Although the Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) agency, we are not an end-user of gifts from donors. Rather, we promote philanthropy right here in Northern Colorado and maximize the impact of our community members' deep-rooted philanthropic spirit. Simply stated, we provide smart, strategic vehicles for charitable giving.

In fiscal year 2008-2009, which ended on July 31, 2009, the Community Foundation distributed $3.2 million in grant and programs. In partnership with local nonprofit agencies, we play a key role in enhancing the extraordinary quality of life the Northern Colorado region offers its residents.

We are pleased to provide a variety of resources to assist local nonprofit agencies in their work. Please click on the links below to learn more, download our Agency Fund Overview, or contact Roxanne Fry or Ray Caraway for more information.
